Day 9 finds us packing up and leaving Arrabury camp for a 130klm ride to Betoota. With a local population of ZERO, this is one of Australia's Ghost Towns. The last resident left here when his health got the better of him. It’s a perfect place to shoot a horror movie, or to wonder through the old abandoned dwellings in hope of finding something unique. But we can’t wait about too long as we still have a 167klm ride ahead of us to get to Birdsville, where our next treat awaits us.

To Birdsville

To Birdsville
The Birdsville Development road is a well kept hiway seeing lots of traffic. Our days of remote travel end here, as we'll see many other riders and drivers about the place. We are headed to Birdsville for a well deserved rest.

Road Trains

Road Trains
Road trains will become a regular site from this point on, so we'd best get used to it. This is where I hope my stone guard I made for my bike really comes into play.. The dust these trucks kick up is ridiculous, but a hazard that must be endured.

Birdsville

Birdsville
Camping here will be a treat as they have really put a lot of thought into the Birdsville Camping ground. We can swim, we can camp, we can sit at the cafe and relax, use the internet, or just walk over the to the famouse Birdsville pub and have a beer. Birdsville only has 110 locals, but it sees more than 50,000 visitors a year.
